Something I always wondered about people with #tourettes and #ticdisorders:
We're almost always empaths.
The part of our brain - the #prefrontalcortex - responsible for #empathy is slightly larger than usual while the part of our brain in our #basalganglia regulating motor planning/control, has faulty neuro-pathways and shrunken parts.
More connections to the PFC as an adaptation, resulting in glitchy motor controls but perhaps very deep emotions.

My entire life I thought I was suffering from #migraine headaches constantly.
#medication does not help them at all which was confusing to me, until I started trying to talk to other people online with severe #tourettes and saw a few TV interviews where they described a similar problem.
They aren't migraines. They're my nervous system freaking out from suppression of tics too much, and look similar.
They are happening less the more I learn to relax in public.

I may have finally made a way to describe #tourettes to someone very ignorant of neurological and #mentalhealth issues.
It isn't entirely accurate and a mockery of what is actually going on, though gets the main idea across -
Imagine your brain is always trying to send random signals to your body, this is everyone. Imagine you have a filter that stops/slows them, and mine is a bit broken, and doesn't stop them all, and causes my body/voice to behave in strange ways.

I have seen something with people with severe #tourettes and #ticdisorders that I can't seem to find any #info on that is also exhibited in myself, my mom, my brother, and relatives who may also have tic issues. #livestreamers #youtubers and videos of people with severe Tourettes and tics too:
Facial asymmetry. One eye tends to be higher than the other, the shoulder often too on the same side, and a slight lazy eye when not focused on the lower eye.
