I finally got my hands on "The Man Who Died Twice" when my library's copy was available on #Libby (the waiting lists for #ThursdayMurderClub novels in English is loooooong here in Hannover) and what hits me again and again as I read it is how it's impossible to do a follow up movie based on the book, what with the changes to the story they made. After reading just the first novel, I didn't mind the deviations in the movie, but now... Such a missed opportunity!

Finally watched the Thursday Murder Club. Had been looking forward to it, Stellar cast...pity the film is pish. Just seems to be something 'off' about it for me the whole way through, can't put a finger on it. None of the (presumable) humour lands.

Have you seen #ThursdayMurderClub? I watched it about a week ago at my friend's house. I hope there is gonna be more films/series like that.
Considering there's already 5 books in the series, I really hope they will make more. I haven't read the books (I only learnt about them when Netflix released the film), but I think I'm going to check my local library to see if they've got them (I still wish they've got more murder mysteries. It seems to me they've got more books on true crime than murder mystery fiction)
I had so many thoughts on the film while watching it and immediately after, I need to start writing down these things before I forget.

I really wanted to enjoy Netflix's #ThursdayMurderClub cos I really like author Richard Osman's podcast, but boy, is it dull.
And since we're talking about Netflix murder mysteries, I dislike the Knives Out movies too. These movies violate the basic tenet of murder mystery stories: that you, as the reader/watcher, have all the clues to solve the mystery yourself too.
These filmmakers look at Poirot and Holmes, and think the significant thing about them is that they're quirky.

I really enjoyed watching the "Thursday Murder Club" on Netflix last night.
I have never read the book, but I had spoken to some people who had... Some loved it, some hated it, and some were not sure 'cos they couldn't finish it. Sort of like Marmite, so oddly appropriate I thought.
Anyway, i liked the adaption of the book and I am looking forward to a sequel! I believe there are 4 in the series.
I think I will read the book too!

On paper the #ThursdayMurderClub on #Netflix has everything - Helen Mirren, Piers Brosnan, a hugely experienced supporting cast... But it's an utter snooze fest. The jokes (such as they are) are poorly delivered, the production values are cheaper than you'd hope, and it just feels like a weak episode of Midsomer Murders.
To be fair, it may get better after the first 20 minutes but we couldn't force ourselves to stick around to find out while there was some paint drying on the other channel. -
