Yesterday saw the penultimate "meal together" of the #threeRings development team at this week's #volunteering / #hackathon retreat, so I decided to take a #cooking shifts to have a go with the big wood-fired brick #pizzaOven in the garden!
It went... pretty damn well! #Pizza is the best.

Somebody just called me and quickly decided it was a wrong number. The signal was bad and I wasn't sure I'd heard them right, so I followed up by replying by text.
It turns out they asked Siri to call Three (the mobile network). Siri then presumably searched online, found Three Rings, managed to connect that to my mobile number, and called me.
If Siri's decided that I represent Three, this could work out even worse than that time Google shared my phone number.

For the last few weeks, I've been getting frequent #ThreeRings tech support calls to my personal mobile number. We don't offer phone-based tech support, so this was a bit of a surprise, and although I don't mind the odd one, this seemed like a significant ramping-up.
So I asked one of them where they found my number, and they said it came up when they did a #Google search for "Three Rings login".
Turns out they were right. Google had the phone number I gave them... four years ago?... for identity verification. But then a few weeks ago they randomly started serving it to people who searched for Three Rings!
I was able to remove it from #GoogleBusinessProfile, where they admitted that they modified it, but I'm yet to receive any kind of explanation.

I'm off for a week of full-time volunteering with Three Rings at 3Camp, our annual volunteer hack week: bringing together our distributed team for some intensive in-person time, working to make life better for charities around the world.
And if there's one good thing to come out of me being suddenly and unexpectedly laid-off two days ago, it's that I've got a shiny new laptop to do my voluntary work on (Automattic have said that I can keep it).

For my final bit of Three Rings volunteering this International Volunteer Day, I'm working on improving the UI of a new upcoming feature: a spreadsheet-like page that makes it easy for administrators to edit the details of many volunteers simultaneously (all backed by the usual level of customisation and view/edit permissions that Three Rings is known for).
It's a moderately-popular request, and I can see it being helpful to volunteer coordinators at many different types of voluntary organisation.
Don't have time to write up the test instructions today, though, because I've got to wrap up my volunteering and go do some childwrangling, so that'll do for now!
