In the late 60s west coast pop/rock sweepstakes, the #PeanutButterConspiracy were perennial openers, colourful also-rans. They were a band whose songs were always a half-step behind whoever was leading the musical way: #TheByrds, #JeffersonAirplane, and later #ThreeDogNight. While they were gifted with a beautifully soulful singer in #BarbaraRobison (RIP), most of the vocal leads were claimed by the less-than-great fellas - John Merrill, Alan Brackett - who penned the tunes. All these years later, it's Barbara's turns that were the most captivating.
