Angry young men stomping around sawdust festooned stables waffling on about fixing chariot races. The only remotely interesting thing about this #InCel #CircleJerk #RomanEmpirePorn is all of the 20 something male #MAGAts who have rated it highly on the never-loved-a-girl "basement critic" platform called #RottenTomatoes

Bueno, pues acabada por fin la primera temporada de "Those about to die" , creo que seguiré con la serie cuando salga la segunda, al final me ha atrapado. Pese a su pobre guión y a sus defectos, en la recta final de la temporada ha ganado bastante en trama y en espectacularidad, y deja un final en el último capítulo que da ganas de continuar. Mención especial para Iwan Rheon, que se come la pantalla y sostiene toda la serie.
Pero vamos, que no es ninguna maravilla. Me gustó mucho más "Espartaco": no solo mucho más visual y espectacular, también incluso en personajes.

Nachdem ich #ThoseAboutToDie geschaut habe (jepp, is gut!), habe ich jetzt #Kaos angefangen (#Netflix). Und die erste Folge trifft so genau meinen Geschmack. Mystik, Götter, Komödie, gute Schauspieler.
Orpheus und Eurydike mal anders.
Ich bleibe dran.

Lieber @rstockm ! Ich schaue gerade, nicht zuletzt aufgrund Deiner Empfehlung in der @freakshow #ThoseAboutToDie
Der Vergleich mit #GoT zwingt sich schon auf, aber nach meiner Meinung ist GoT doch noch wesentlich komplexer und tiefer, bereits in der ersten Staffel. Wobei das auch daran liegen kann, dass man halt auch den Rest kennt und sich in S1 vieles aufbaut.
Aber ja, die Serie ist gelungen und macht Spaß! Auf jeden Fall eine Empfehlung.

Die letzten ca. 3 Episoden von #ThoseAboutToDie ziehen nochmal extrem an, da ist die Red Wedding fast ein Kindergeburtstag. Wäre dank der eigentlich schon guten Story nicht unbedingt nötig gewesen, rangiert eher unter Torture Porn.
Ich verstehe, dass sie hier ihre „so liebe Leute, jetzt drehen wir mal alles auf 12“ Momente die in Erinnerung bleiben einfahren wollen, aber auch die Charakterzeichnungen kommen dabei unter die Räder (sic). -

Also #ThoseAboutToDie - sicherlich guilty pleasure (Emmerich halt) aber alle Szenen in denen Jojo Macari und Iwan Rheon zu sehen sind - großartig. Und das sind schon nicht wenige. Spielen sie aber zusammen: Weltklasse was da an Dynamik entsteht.
Plus: man munkelt, das antike Rom sei überraschend authentisch in Szene gesetzt. Und mit Anthony Hopkins macht man auch immer noch nichts falsch, siehe S01 von Westwood.
Da kommt schon Einiges zusammen.

Holla, war das Staffelfinale krass.
#ThoseAboutToDie kommt zwar nicht an #GameOfThrones rann, aber die Serie ist ebenso kompromisslos und perfide. Und fast genauso viel Cuteness aus der Hölle. 👍
Die CGI-Tiere sind allerdings weniger überzeugend. 👎

Started to watch #ThoseAboutToDie. Is it worth it? Because I'm 2 minutes in and I'm posting instead of watching it...
Didn't like the intro's fluid simulation. I know how hard blood sims are, with those tiny blobs that tend to pop in and out. But it had a bit of a CG curse. Plus, that kind of intro isn't all that fresh in 2024 after Man in the High Castle, Game of Thrones or Arcane. Then, 1st scene, a knife changes position by an arm's length between cuts. Sloppy.

#ThoseAboutToDie is terrible on so many counts, soap opera on sandals, mostly terrible acting, Anthony Hopkins baiting, cuts between scenes that look like technical glitches (probably someone is being served ads in those).
The worst of all though is the constantly terrible Deux Ex Machina of it all. Truly, truly terrible writing

- people having different accents
- Iwan Rheon bossing every scene he is in
- Sara Martins bossing every scene she is in
- non-traditional gladiator story arcThings that sucked:
- crap CGI
- bad costuming on charioteers
- all Romans are decadent and evil
- annoying and glaring inaccuracies
- worst off-Broadway production of Lion King everAll in all, 2.5/5
