  1. "There are few human beings, and fewer complications. Sometimes Jesus appears; other times he is more of a suggestion. Sometimes the paintings light up, literally, as if the artist wanted to burn holes in our retinas." —Sarah Jones for Dissent dissentmagazine.org/online_art #painting #art #ThomasKinkade #criticism

  2. Yeti updates: I recently read "Pym", based on the premise that Poe's "The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym" was based on real events which Poe presented as fiction. By the
end you see a not-at-all disguised Thomas Kinkade, sappy "Painter
    of Light", attacked by Yeti.

The reality, according to Wikipedia: "Kinkade died of "acute intoxication" from alcohol and the drug diazepam [Valium] at the age of 54." So, the Yeti didn't get him after all.

  3. #ThomasKinkade has been the joke of the high #art community for decades, even if the masses loved his idealistic work. Personally, I love his work. He could paint really well, and while he didn't invent a new #style, his paintings are food for the soul, promoting inner peace. His originals these days reach a million $ a piece, 10 years after his death. I just wish the art critics get a clue, since not everything has to be #postmodern and edgy. Some things are good enough simply by being "nice".
