Day 24: Favourite costumes of 2025. #EYDC2025
#jDrama #cDrama #kDrama #twDrama
This was surprisingly easy: Only one Drama came to mind. I don't watch costume historical Dramas from anywhere, so the Drama that won for me, won by being REAL.
Way back in 2014 I watched a #kDrama in which the FL played a call centre drone - in a dress that THEN cost $12K US.
So #cDrama #ThisThrivingLand really impressed me by dressing its poor peasants to LOOK LIKE poor peasants, even the FL. Well done!

Jour 21 : Quel(le) acteur(trice) t’as surpris(e) ?
#CalendrierAventDrama
#jDrama #kDrama #twDrama #cDramaThis was a VERY easy one:
When I first saw Xing Fei, she was using the English name "Fairy" and she was cute as FL of #cDrama #PurYourHeadOnMyShoulder - a sweet romcom that was not a taxing display of acting talent. Six years later, #ThisThrivingLand was the next of hers I fiinished after 3 drops, and she blew me away. Real range, real depth, a real actor! Give her an HEA! 😀

Jour 18 : Quelles scènes ont été dotées de la plus belle cinématographie ?
#CalendrierAventDrama
#jDrama #kDrama #twDrama #cDramaOverall winner a 2024 Drama that I watched in 2025 - #ToTheWonder. The impressive Altay region a character in its own right, just stunning
A close second, the 2025 Drama #ThisThrivingLand - one of several #cDrama I watched this year that highlighted just how BIG China is, and that used its picturesque vastness as a key element of their storytelling

Day 8: Standout secondary character of 2025. #EYDC2025
#kDrama #cDrama #jDrama #twDramaGoogling for images of this role confirms her character really was secondary. The whole Drama very much about Yang Mi, so I award Xing Fei this one for her outstanding performance in the little sister role in #ThisThrivingLand . HEA next, please

Day 2 of #EndOfYearDramaChallenge #EYDC2025 was REALLY hard
An Actress you discovered in2025In the end, I went with Yang Mi for her outstanding performance in #ThisThrivingLand , just edging out Shiraishi Sei's wonderfully layered villain in #MarryMyHusbandJPN
I have to give honourable mention to some actors who weren't new to me but who I discovered as 'real' actors this year.
Most notably Xing Fei in #ThisThrivingLand Zhao Lu Si in #LovesAmbition

6 years ago, I really enjoyed #cDrama youth romcom #PutYourHeadOnMyShoulder - I also love that the leads may be an IRL pair too😍
Which is why it's been very nteresting to watch them both in 2 VERY different Dramas at the same time. The ML is ML in another romance #SmileCode , and it's not bad, especially the OTP - quite well-written. BUT the tiny FL, Xing Fei has grown enormously into a real actor's role imo. She's sort of '2FL' in #ThisThrivingLand and is smashing it. Brava!

Stopping at ep 9 of #cDrama #ThisThrivingLand for a change of tone, because it deserves my best. The choice of period inspired for allowing CCP propaganda to be utterly seamless & apt. It's also helping me see how my HS history teacher's presentation of the material covering this period was very much on Rewi Alley's side of the story this Drama tells. #China #Aotearoa

Into episode 9/36 through #cDrama #ThisThrivingLand and I'm overwhelmed at seeing every single face covered in things I never see in #kDrama
pores
-
Yang Mi in #cDrama #ThisThrivingLand channelling ME, every time I recoil from some super smash hyped #kDrama that all the cool kids on masto or bsky are yammering about nonstop
-
Into ep 4/36 in #cDrama #ThisThrivingLand and I'd score the entire Drama at 20/10 right now if I found out that one whole episode was devoted to the FL's father being torn apart slowly by wild dogs
-
I decided to start #cDrama #ThisThrivingLand after hearing good things about Xing Fei stepping up into a more serious, adult role as the FL's younger sister. So far, so good. And since it's set 100 years ago, it can honestly be called an historical #cDrama 😀
-
#cDrama #ThisThrivingLand is a serious CCTV historical, not normally my fare, but apparently Xing Fei is getting good reviews for her stepping up into a weightier fully adult role, so I will check it out
