This evening I learned that the sound of a clown rummaging around in a basement below me can be absolutely unsettling.
That I know the clown down there, and why they are rummaging around, is not a particularly mitigating factor.

The heat wave finally broke here, and we're slowly getting back to doing more than whimpering.
Today's tiny victories include getting rid of a contractor sized bag of trash that was a floorpile and being halfway to moving a dresser upstairs.
Time for coffee to power the lifting bit.

During our ongoing renovations, I found out that there has been the addition of a tiny pink unicorn to the interior of the walls here at #ThisOldClownHouse.
This diminutive mythological housemate lives behind a panel which looks like a periscope, and thus they need an appropriate name for a one-horned spy.
In the spirit of the #CluckMe name-off, I present the #UniPoll

#CluckMe's #FinalCluckDown has spoken, and this adorable crocheted lady has officially been named "Mabel" by the fediverse.

It sank in that I've been "fancy camping" at #ThisOldClownHouse just long enough to need our backup drives up and spinning.
If you need a reminder to keep extra copies of your digital creative life, remember that I'm doing this task while living in an actual construction site run by clowns.

Sometimes, it's epic transformation of a mystery closet into a known cupboard, and sometimes you're simply happy to have found and unpacked your own toaster.

I still have some cleaning up to do, and some cinder blocks left to shift outside, but the mystery closet is now the known cupboard!
There are, of course, two more storage areas, the attic, and the basement to explore, so expect plenty of oddity updates to come.

Tonight's #TinkeringFootgunFunTime was bolting just enough hardware and software together to impersonate a working router.
Frankly, the configuration is lousy and hacked together.
The hardware itself is questionable, and currently includes pieces borrowed from friends until my own tools arrive in a week.
Yet, for all of this spaghetti, I'm now posting on the internet from #ThisOldClownHouse without having to resort to a mobile hotspot.
It's not just good...for tonight, it's good enough. :)

It would appear that, thanks in part to many helpful opinions here, I will have the hardware necessary to get basic networking online (nearly) on arrival to the new and definitely improved clown HQ.
The nerd in me is excited to get to build some of this stuff by hand.
The next (related) project, which I can't really dig into until I'm on site, is figuring out what combination of wires and wireless (WIFI) will most reduce my swearing.
