Con su tercer trabajo #ThisIsTheSea, publicado el 16 de septiembre de 1985, los #Waterboys firmemente encabezados por #MikeScott logran la majestuosidad. El compositor se sintió de tal manera realizado que aseguró que era "el disco en el que logré todas mis ambiciones musicales de juventud". Fue tal el reconocimiento, pero sobe todo la satifacción personal, durante este período denominado como “Big Sound” que la banda a partir de ahí se orientó hacia la música flolklórica escocesa e irlandesa.
