Speaking as a Northern Irish Protestant, some Unionists have completely colonial attitudes to the place.
The North of Ireland does not need these sorts of politicians; it does not need the Union at all.
And Unionism, if you like that sort of thing, would be better and more successful without them.

Is Sunak actually proposing conscripting Irish Nationalist and Republican teenagers in the North of Ireland to the British Army? If so, lol, good luck with that.
If not, I’d just point out that the North of Ireland was
exempted from conscription in both WW1 and WW2. If it is to be exempted from National Service, maybe a lot of teenagers would find changing their home addresses to Belfast or Derry an attractive option? -

I have friends and family in England, I wish you no harm, I hope that you can restore sanity to the politics there, for all our sakes, while we are still part of this union.
However, I just don't want to be part of the UK union any longer. I would like your influence over the place I call home gone - the British ruling classes have done enough damage. It is time to go, so we can repair it.

The school bubbly concrete situation that is starting to dominate the airwaves is absolutely shocking. Considering #Gove & @Sunak appear to be responsible for the unfolding 💩 show. Once again it is the kids that are going to suffer.
However, you get the feeling that this will probably finish whatever chances the #Tories had a winning the #generalelection
It is further evidence that #England is falling apart. #think32 is looking ever more attractive!

Having attended the funeral of a family friend in Banbridge, NI, we stopped overnight, near the border, at Killeavy Castle on the way south. A pleasant morning walk was enlivened by this character who's clearly reserved his proprietary perch on a balcony overlooking the gardens.

Dublin conference on calling for the preparation for unity. You will see the desire for constitutional change on this island.
We can't let the threat of problems stop us from moving towards reunification. The alternative to staying with the #UK, if it stays on this path, is not what I would want for anyone. It really is time to #Think32

CW: I live north of the border. I have siblings and children who live south of the border as well as in the north. The Irish border is an impractical encumbrance to my family and to my community and Brexit is destined to make it worse.
I honestly believe that the only real, practical and long term solution is a United Ireland.

CW In the event of a long term closure of NI Assembly more people would prefer Joint Authority at 41% than any other alternative. Indeed if include a consultative form of JA. figure rises to 59%. Direct Rule features at 40%.
That JA is the most popular choice is reflective of a changing NI.
