I like the certainty of handing over cash or a facsimile. Checks are basically custom denomination bank currency and there is something timeless about writing and mailing a check.

I used to scour the Sunday pink section of the @sfchronicle, looking to see if my favorite bands were coming to town. Tickets would go on sale (at physical record stores or over the phone) about a week after the show was announced, then the show would happen about a month after that.

There were no big announcements about when the tour would be announced, and no confusion over seven different pre-sales happening 8 to 12 months before the show date.
