"Let's Get Together", also known as "#GetTogether" and "Everybody Get Together", is a song written in the mid-1960s by the American singer-songwriter #ChetPowers (stage name Dino Valenti), from the #psychedelicRock band #QuicksilverMessengerService. A hit version by #theYoungbloods, included on their 1967 debut album The Youngbloods, peaked at No. 5 on the #Billboard #Hot100 in 1969.

Not sure which longhair first had the bright idea to divert Dave Dudley's trucker-anthem "Six Days on the Road" into the hippie pantheon . . . was is #TajMahaj? Perhaps #TheFlyingBurritoBrothers? Whoever it was, thank em for doing so. It remains a great, celebratory working-class song - here's hoping someone will one day retool the lyrics for our Uber-dependent generation. #CountryJoeMcDonald waxed a bumpin' version too, but #TheYoungbloods take - what with all that dancing Marin County gtr work - gets my vote for the best.
Hey, did #TheGratefulDead ever cover this one? Could imagine #BobWeir singing the hell out of this.

The recently deceased #JesseColinYoung and his band #TheYoungbloods are perhaps best know for the upbeat, quintessentially #Sixties #anthem Cone Together, but here’s a very different side of their oeuvre: Darkness, Darkness www.youtube.com/watch?v=ORSD... #songs #music #psychedelia #psychedelicmusic

@OutOfExile_IDR_Voice This is really interesting. I included this Nirvana song in my blog yesterday because it cynically quotes 'Get Together' by #TheYoungbloods among others. https://tedtockscovers.wordpress.com/2022/12/28/get-together-love-is-but-a-song-we-sing-musicislife-tedtockscovers-theyoungbloods-dinovalenti-quicksilvermessengerservice-thefolkswingers-davidcrosby-thekingstontrio-themitchelltri/

A '60s anthem with a fascinating history and an eternal message. It was made most famous by #TheYoungbloods and covered countless times. Enjoy this interesting sample of covers, which speak to the power of music. #MusicisLife!
