It was written by #GambleAndHuff as the theme for the American musical television program #SoulTrain, which specialized in #AfricanAmerican musical performers. The single was released on the #PhiladelphiaInternationalRecords label. It was the first television theme song to reach No. 1 on the #Billboard Hot 100. At the 17th Annual Grammy Awards in 1975.
