When talking about #solarbike , mentioning https://thesuntrip.com rallye is an absolute must.
My personal daily record on my own recumbent lowrider with ~300W panels (400Wp) is 288 km in 2025, with average performace being usually rather in 100-200 km range. Everything over 200 km is actually pretty hard, including navigation - there are no long distance stretches of local roads, and the motorways are of course off limit and even bike legal main roads are not very pleasant for cyclists.
The released/leaked data from the the top #thesuntrip racers show, that the solar power accounts for approximately 50% of the required energy, the rest is just athletic performance and resilient long distance cycling - slow, but restless. You just can't afford to stop :-)

Česká solární výprava se právě nalodila a opustila Afriku! Neplánovaně jsme se zasekli na noc na vrcholu stoupání, protože nám ještě jednou naposled došla elektřina.
Před posledním účastníkem závodu #thesuntrip máme pořád ještě den náskok! Miguel sice projel na rozdíl od nás i dva "pouštní" checkpointy, ale zato svoje kolo dobíjí i ze zásuvky (my jedeme solar challenge - což teda s našimi panely nevhodnými pro příliš prudké slunce byla fakt challenge...)

9.checkpoint závodu #thesuntrip (ovšem dva "pouštní" jsme s @cobic vynechali, takže máme zatím score 7/11)

To, že jsme odstoupili od plánu absolvovat všechny checkpointy rallye #thesuntrip ještě neznamená, že se neploužíme dál krásnou rozpálenou krajinou. Změnilo se jen to, že na oficiální mapě jsme zešedivěli. Ale nesnesitelně je tu jen asi od 11 dopoledne do 3 odpoledne, jinak to víceméně jde. Naší evakuaci z jihu jsme zahájili pokusem vystoupat z horké nížiny, zatím jsme asi v 1400 metrech.
Dnes jsme projížděli údolím, kde nefungovaly mobilní data a tudíž ani kavárny a restaurace neměly wifi. To nás trochu vyděsilo, ale stačilo popojet na kopec.

Dnes se nás před startem pokusili unudit tím, že se z nás i našich kol pokusili udělat muzeální exponát, zatímco venku svítilo sluníčko.
Na to, že nás vypustili až skoro ve dvě, si nevedeme úplně špatně. Od rána 168 km, samozřejmě s výhodou nabitý baterky, roviny a větru v zádech, ale zase jsem řešil krátkou panickou situaci s MPPT regulátorem Victron, za kterou naštěstí snad mohl jen mechanický vakl. Dnešní umístění nic moc, jsme spíš v druhý polovině, než mezi prvními. Tak uvidíme zítra, v kolik vstanem...
Většinu fotek z dneška mám bohužel ve foťáku a ne v mobilu, protože ten používám k navigaci.
