Another cut from Angelo Badalamenti’s soundtrack for David Lynch’s film “The Straight Story;” fits nicely with the evening sunset.

In 1994, WW2 veteran Alvin Straight, who lived in Laurens, Iowa, drove a 1966 John Deere 110 lawn tractor the 240 miles from Laurens to Mt. Zion, Wisconsin, to see his brother who he hadn’t had any contact with for years. In 1999, David Lynch made a movie about Alvin’s trip that starred Sissy Spacek and Richard Farnsworth. The soundtrack by Angelo Badalamenti is a work of art. This has always been my favorite track.

After being very disappointed by rewatches of Wild At Heart and Inland Empire I was surprised by how much I liked The Straight Story. It's not quite Elephant Man levels of moving but it's not too far off.

#7 The Straight Story I hesitate to include this; Lynch only directed and didn't write the screenplay. But it's heartwarming, and the landscape cinematography seems to have prepared Lynch to capture LA in his masterpiece, Mulholland Drive #davidlynch #filmography #thestraightstory #filmsky #cinema

Like many right now, I've been going though some David Lynch movies. I noticed this little gem of a "crazy credit" from IMDb on The Straight Story:

#DavidLynch #RIP #TheStraightStory

RIP david lynch - a unique american, and uniquely american, genius. (it’s up to you now, alexander payne.) watched “the straight story” last night in his honor. had never seen it. a sweet, simple, heartfelt story with wry, dry, lynchian humor peppered throughout. one-of-a-kind gem. disney! also, you can’t watch “the elephant man” anywhere right now. unless you have the DVD i guess …

The Straight Story (1999) ★★★★★★★★★☆ https://trakt.tv/movies/the-straight-story-1999 #TheStraightStory #trakt

A nighty night ear worm from the soundtrack to a 1999 David Lynch film about the true story of a man (Richard Farnsworth) who drove a John Deere lawn tractor (an old 110, if memory serves) from Iowa to Wisconsin to see his brother (Harry Dean Stanton) in 1994.
