The Secret of NIMH no es solo una joya artesanal, es una lección sobre cómo el sistema absorbe la rebelión.

Before I read Tolkien, a 1982 animated film showed young me what epic fantasy could be. Why The Secret of NIMH could be a blueprint for fun TTRPG campaigns and political intrigue. #AnimatedClassic #TheSecretOfNIMH #80sAnimation

Did you know that Don Bluth really, really, really wanted Disney to make an adaptation of Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of N.I.M.H, and when the Disney brass refused he left and took about 11 other animators with him?

I'm still a bit grumpy they decided to release a new disk right when I finally got the 1982 version, but ah well, now I got both, or, well, all three, as the new one contains the 2015 version which is an extended 1982 one, and the new, even more extended one, I assume. 😁
Anyway! Secret of NIMH soundtracks!
The new one actually has a relatively thick booklet with screenshots and comments, so, that's really nice.

I'm watching the "Secret of NIMH" audio commentary by Don Bluth and Gary Goldman. It's really interesting to me to hear people who worked on movies tell stories about it, how stuff was realized or why specific decisions were made.
It also makes you several details you might miss in a normal viewing, like how shadows were used and why sometimes specific colors were used.
I like such stuff, I want more cartoon making-ofs. Non-cartoon, as well, but with animated stuff they also always have stories about the animation progress, that's cool!
Also, I have an excuse to post more Brisby screenshots! ♥️
No matter which scene, she's so beautiful and I love that chin fur. ♥️

I wanted to watch "Shutter Island" today, but the disk seems to be faulty and thus I dared to finally watch: "The Secret of NIMH 2: Timmy to the Rescue", the sequel to "Secret of NIMH", the movie, unrelated to the actual, second "Secret of NIMH" book.
It seems this movie is generally seen as very negative, especially by fans of the 1st movie.
I can understand that.
The movie certainly lacked the quality and the emotional depth of the 1st one.Still, I wouldn't say it's horrible.
It's kinda half/half?Good:
- It has cute songs
- Both Timmy and Jenny have fun and nice personalities and Jenny has a great voice actor
- General rescue mission is fineBad:
- What they made of NIMH
- How the antagonist was handled
- Technical quality
- Pacing[...]

I note the human farmers haven't noticed the rodent civilisation developing around them. The land should belong to the ascendant micropeople!

It seems the second "Secret of NIMH" movie is universally disliked.
I so still kinda want to watch it, and if it's only to understand and share everyone's dislike for it. 😅 -
After several unsuccessful tries, due to not working international shipments, today I finally received the official soundtrack CD of Don Bluth's "The Secret of NIMH"!
More stuff for my Mrs Brisby / Frisby love! ♥️

Another piece of Mrs. Brisby fanart someone did!
I'm really happy about this. Because it's a great piece, but also because it shows in such an awesome way how fanworks can keep a creation alive for so much longer and carry its legacy for possibly forever.
Another reason why companies should work with and not against fan creations. ♥️
Anyway, have a Brisby by RocksoDraws. 🥰

I've wanted to rewatch The Secret of NIMH for a long time and I am tonight, with my wife, who's never seen it (it's been so long for me, it's like the first time 🤣) but it's on Tubi right now (with ads) and it's even more beautiful and amazing than I even remembered.
