🚨 BREAKING: Activists from Scientist Rebellion are confronting German finance minister Christian Lindner with his refusal to effectively adress the #ClimateEmergency and #BiodiversityCrisis. „Science is being ignored, FDP destroys!“

While people in the Global South are already suffering and dying from climate change, the German "Umweltrat" has declared that Germany's remaining carbon budget for 1.5 degrees is already used up.

Lindner's party FDP continues to categorically block any effective climate policy on the national and EU level. Instead, they are working on policies to benefit the super rich – those that will suffer the least from climate crisis.

The FDP-lead transport ministry refuses to expand public transport and plans almost 1000 km of new highways. Lindner himself is cutting down on public spending meant to support a just transition to green infrastructure.

#TheScienceIsClear. The age of fossil fuels and combustion engines has to end! Get car and fossil fuel lobbyists out of politics!

More and more activists are facing judges and are trialed for their "crimes" – fighting for a liveable planet for all of us. For many judges we are nothing but a nuisance, case closed. Dare to take a stance, #FaceTheFacts! Here are some quotes from previous trials👇

Quote of judge #1: "With a small minority is not acceptable to impose your position on others." – Apparently it is, but you have to be an executive of a fossil fuel company, then you'll have it your way and get billions on top! #HowMuchMore?

Quote of judge #2: "Your behaviour is coercive towards the government." – You've got that the wrong way around. The G7 governments have pledged already back in 2009 to stop subsidising fossil fuels, but they don't do it. They are forcing the #FossilMadness on everybody!

Quote of judge #3: "It is clear that you have to take a different path. I can't say which one." – Scientists get out of their labs and onto the streets, the #ClimateEmergency calls for everybody to leave their comfort zone, before the #HumanClimateNiche is gone!

Die Aufweichung der #Sektorziele rückt Deutschlands #Klimaschutzmaßnahmen in ein trübes Licht: fällt die Eigenverantwortung der einzelnen Sektoren weg, öffnet dies Türen für halbherzigen #Klimaschutz. Die neue Regelung soll für die Bereiche #Energie, #Industrie, #Verkehr, #Gebäude, #Landwirtschaft und #Abfallwirtschaft gelten. 

Die ersten drei Sektoren gehören zu den treibenden Kräften der deutschen #Emissionen; doch speziell der Verkehrssektor steht zunehmend in der Kritik. Die @bundesregierung selbst schreibt: "Der Verkehr muss außerdem einen signifikanten Beitrag zum Erreichen des deutschen #Klimaschutzziels leisten." [1] Doch die Realität sieht anders aus.

"Während die Treibhausgasemissionen in #Deutschland seit 1990 stark gesunken sind, gab es im #Verkehrssektor bisher kaum eine Verbesserung. Der Anteil des Verkehrs an den #Gesamtemissionen ist seit 1990 von etwa 13 % auf 19,4 % im Jahr 2021 gestiegen", schreibt das Umwelt Bundesamt. [2] Des Weiteren wurden 2021 "rund 148 Mio. Tonnen #CO2-Äquivalente ausgestoßen. Damit liegen die #Treibhausgasemissionen dieses Sektors sowohl 1,2 Prozent über dem Wert von 2020, als auch rund 3 Mio. Tonnen über der im #Bundesklimaschutzgesetz für 2021 zulässigen #Jahresemissionsmenge von 145 Mio. Tonnen CO2-Äquivalente." [3]

Stefanie Langkamp, politische Geschäftsleiterin der @klima_allianz, kritisiert die neue Regelung demzufolge scharf: "Mit dem Streichen der verbindlichen Sektorziele kauft die #FDP ihren #Verkehrsminister (@volkerwissing) davon frei, seinen Beitrag zu leisten – auf Kosten kommender Generationen und all jener, die schon heute unter der #Klimakrise leiden." [4]

Durch das wiederholte Nicht-Einhalten der Klimaschutzziele, stellt (u. a.) der #Verkehrssektor einen direkten Angriff auf effektive #Klimaschutzmaßnahmen dar. Wenn die @bundesregierung nicht bereit ist, entsprechend der Faktenlage (#IPCCreport) zu handeln, welche besagt, dass eine sofortige Senkung
