Apparently, I should not have immersed my Thermos insulated cup to clean it as the soapy water has leaked into the insulating gap and is sloshing around, and at some point will likely get nasty and toxic. My fault for picking a supposedly decent brand.

Update : 18 negative reviews for the shorter version, most mentioning water getting into the insulating gap.
