Interesting fact Therianthropy has been recorded as early as 13000 BCE with a pictograph called the Sorcerer in the Cave of Trois-Frères, Ariège, France. The beast to human trope has been expressed in all culture’s myths, legends, and stories.

#introduction I'm Orion Scribner (they/them), a cartoonist and community historian. I made the comic "Theri There," and the history book "Otherkin Timeline," which have been cited in academic journals. For about two decades, I've been in these communities: #otherkin #therianthrope #dragon #furry and generally what we now call #alterhuman. My account here is safe for work, screen-reader friendly, & welcoming follow requests from all. On Mastodon, I tend to post about current events related to our communities, as well as updates about my essays, comics, and art.

House of Chimeras, Orion Scribner, & Page Shepard are writing a book about #alterhumans, & you can be part of it! We want to hear from #therianthropes in particular for this part: the #Therian Community Survey, which asks about your theriotypes, experiences, & how you personally define #therianthropy. It’s about ten minutes long, open to anyone physically at least 18 who identifies with the label #therianthrope. One response per physical body, please.

Today is the 30th anniversary of the creation of alt.horror.werewolves in 1992! It was a Usenet newsgroup, which a kind of Internet forum. It was created for informal conversations about #werewolves in movies and folklore. Later, as those conversations wandered into personal stories about feeling similar to werewolves and other creatures themselves, #AHWw became the place where the #therianthrope community began!
This post is part of my Alterhuman Calendar series, which I tag as #AhCal.

Happy #TherianthropyDay! This thread gives information about today's holiday. Observed on the first full moon of every November, this day celebrates #therianthropes, real people who identify as animals, such as wolves or cats. Some of them are mythical creatures, such as dragons.
