Sometimes we think back on the many obvious-in-hindsight signs that we were queer and trans when we were younger, then wonder how we didn't recognise them, especially when we had some more freedom at university vs living at home with family.

Then we remember that our younger self was also incredibly oblivious, unconfident, and socially awkward AF. They couldn't see the forest for the trees a lot of the time.

It would have taken meeting and probably befriending some trans+ folk for them to have even had a chance of cracking their egg earlier, but this was before microblogging social media. The closest she got to online community were PC overclocking forums, a Power Ranger IRC channel, and later Runescape. (Ironically the latter is SO full of openly queer and trans+ people now!)

We also then remember that our younger self dressed up in cardboard boxes to pretend to be a Power Rangers zord... and filmed themselves doing so with a close friend (whom we're still in contact with), and who thought this was both funny and creative 😅🤦‍♀️

It would have taken some external event or force to help them get there sooner than we did.

We should remember to be kinder to our younger self. Without them muddling through, we wouldn't be here today. :TransHeart: :NonBinaryHeart:

Finally started a long-overdue rewatch of Steven Universe.

The last time we watched it through, we still thought that we were a cis het guy 😅

It's kinda funny in hindsight how many little signs there were that we didn't know how to read at the time.

Oh, also, for morale, we decided to actual resume playing RuneScape properly for the first time since stopping back in 2009.

At that time, we had 10 x level 99 skills and were ranked within about the top 10K players overall. on the hisores.

We're currently within the to 268K players, which isn't too bad, given that we spent 15 years away.

For the record, our character in RuneScape was female, because of course she was. People online assumed we were and we never corrected them... for totally cis reasons 😅🤦‍♀️

Only took us until 2021 to finally realise / accept that we're trans, and a little bit longer to realise all the other stuff we'd buried deep down.

I’ll start: All my computers (not counting phones) are named after warriors from #Claymore.

There are a lot of them, they are all very respectfully presented women (#ThereWereNoSigns), there is a power-ranking that allows to mirror the computational resources of the computers relative to each other and I just really, really love the series!

Somehow every #PrideWalk I’ve ever been to has had AMAZING weather and the one in #Eindhoven today seems to follow the pattern. 😊︎

That said, this is indeed my first pride even with me truly knowing and acknowledging who I am. The walk last year (the anniversary is on Monday) was however what caused me egg to crack properly. In honor of that I’ve furthermore decided to wear the same dress that I wore last year.

In 2005, I wrote a short story called Uncertainty Principle for my creative writing dissertation.

In this postmodern-style story, I wrote in the first person as a girl my age, who had written her own story about a character with my deadname, which she was getting reviewed.

I genuinely wrote the below in 2005, but didn't realise / accept I was trans until 2021 🤦‍♀️

• The armour is cheaper.
• I like the aesthetic choices more.
• It's a nice escape from reality, you know?

... then proceed not to even begin to question whether you might be trans for about 12 years 😅
