Introducing our new logo, our first-ever tagline, and a clearer voice for transformative mental healthcare
As we move forward in our journey as an organization, our updated logo and tagline reflect our dual commitment to expanding access to transformative psychotherapy AND to empowering the professionals who provide it. The intersecting conversation bubbles of our new logo represent the relational, human connections at the heart of our work.As we move forward in our journey as an organization, we’ve sharpened our mission statement, updated our look and logo, and added a tagline reflecting our dual commitment to expanding access to transformative psychotherapy AND to empowering the professionals who provide it.
What We Stand ForFounded as a staunch advocate of therapies of depth, insight, and relationship, Psychotherapy Action Network has always been clear about what makes psychotherapy transformative and what threatens it. Our values have not changed. Our mission has sharpened.
We champion access to psychotherapy and defend the clinicians who provide this care, along with the clinical standards, fair reimbursement, and working conditions that make it possible. We do not take neutral positions when psychotherapy is reduced to a scalable commodity. We challenge policies and business models that undermine relational, depth-oriented care.
Our vision is a world in which psychotherapies that create meaningful change are universally accessible and protected.
What Makes Psychotherapy Action Network DistinctPsychotherapy Action Network stands at the intersection of three commitments no other national organization holds together:
•Therapy access advocacy for the public. We educate, inform, and advocate for the conditions that make psychotherapy genuinely accessible to the people who need it.
•
•Professional advocacy for clinicians. Fair reimbursement, sustainable working conditions, and clinical autonomy are not peripheral concerns. They are the infrastructure of care.
•
•Resistance to the commodification of care. When therapy is treated as a product to be optimized, scaled, and monetized, the relationship at its core is the first casualty. We name that clearly and fight against it.
•
Expanding access and empowering professionals are inseparable goals. Together, they power our advocacy.
Why NowThis sharpening did not happen in a vacuum. AI tools promise scale and low cost. Venture-backed platforms position therapy as a subscription product. Corporate consolidation reshapes how care is delivered and reimbursed, and insurance pressures continue to strain clinicians and narrow treatment options. These forces determine whether a person in crisis reaches a skilled, relationally engaged clinician, or is routed instead toward a chatbot or a standardized session designed around billing efficiency rather than therapeutic need.
Psychotherapy Action Network exists to defend against exactly that outcome. Lasting mental health outcomes come from depth and relationship, not automated shortcuts, and we will not be neutral about it.
Stand With UsThis advocacy work does not happen without a community behind it. Psychotherapy Action Network is powered by clinicians, researchers, students, administrators, and members of the public who believe that the therapeutic relationship is worth defending. The intersecting conversation bubbles of our new logo represent the relational, human connections at the heart of our work.
If you are already a member, thank you! Your support makes this advocacy possible. We plan to expand what membership includes, and new benefits are coming, designed to offer greater value to the professionals and advocates who make up this community. Stay tuned.
If you have not yet joined our efforts, now is a good time. Membership is open to all who support our mission, and to all disciplines and theoretical orientations. If you are in a position to make a financial contribution, every gift strengthens our ability to advocate at the national level for the profession and the people who depend on it.
Please share this update with your colleagues and networks. Invite others into this work. Together we can expand access and empower professionals.
