    The Posies - Amazing Disgrace

    Listening to this angry album, it’s really kind of amazing that it’s not the end of the Posies. Which would have been a shame, since Auer and Stringfellow are pop geniuses.

    Despite the subject matter, this is packed with great songs, given a great, bonus-packed reissue back in 2018 by Omnivore.

    Ayer, #TheWhiffs nos dejaron una magnífica impresión. Los de Kansas City, ya sin #JoeyMontaro (actualmente en #TheRubs), tienen solvencia y repertorio de sobra para deleitar al respetable con su particular mezcla de #PowerPop con influencias de los #60s y también de otros más recientes (citan a #CheapTrick, los #Heartbreakers de #TomPetty y #TheReplacements, y yo añado a #ThePosies). Suficiente juventud, grandes canciones y presencia en el escenario (a pesar de la leve afonía de #RoryCameron).

    The Posies - Dear 23

    I know that Ken Stringfellow was proven to be quite problematic, and that (besides all the damage done to those involved) cut short The Posies comeback, but this - their first album - remains a solid power pop album.

    Produced by John Leckie (who also did XTC's first two LPs, and the Dukes of Stratosphear albums), it's definitely no “recorded in their living room" special, as Failure was.
