The main view is that the electorate will “see sense” once it gets closer to an actual election. Almost all of them point to this time in the last election cycle when Dutton’s Coalition was ahead and say ‘see, and then we got a historic majority’.

What they are not looking at, is what happened in the US a few years ago, where fear of the status quo, was, as Richard Denniss and Emma Shortis have said multiple times, greater than the fear of Donald Trump.

It’s not even necessarily One Nation that people want – it’s a change. Labor doesn’t seem to have grasped that. The Coalition certainly haven’t. This is unchartered waters and they are trying to apply the old way of doing things. It is not going to work. Whether or not they work that out in time is questionable.”
