I watched #TheParallaxView from 1974. Interesting that this is about a conspiracy of unseen reactionary forces preventing progressive changes in society. These days, it is the reactionaries who are the conspiracy nuts.
The movie is well worth watching. Fascinating pictures, characters almost disappearing within giant man-made construction. Cold, static camera perspectives raising creeping suspicion of the protagonist being watched.

Was in the mood for 1970s thrillers and watched Marathon Man (which was excellent) and then #TheParallaxView (which felt like a waste of time).
The modern reviews of Parallax View imply it's an underrated Kubrick-like existentialist experience, but not sure they have been watching the same film? It just feels a mess that doesn't know what it wants to do or be.
At the beginning there's a totally unrealistic wild west-style bar fight: tables smashed over heads, people thrown through windows and grinning, cartwheel chandeliers falling to the ground, a sheriff drinking when there are people unconscious on the ground etc.
Then it becomes a political thriller with twists and turns, like a fictional "All the President's Men".
Then it gives up: a thrilling plane scene starts tense but goes nowhere, then an intriguing social commentary brainwashing scene also goes nowhere, and the entire last half is devoid of development of any kind 😞
