When I was VERY young, my 3rd grade class went on a field trip to see The Nutcracker performed at the Wang Theatre in #boston , & my tiny adolescent mind was blown away. The music has stuck with me my whole life. When I hear it, I’m instantly transported back into that theatre.
To find such a unique version of it is special for me. Records are in great shape, too!A cool no random thing found in the box:

Pretty cool, man.You just never know what you’re gonna find inside a used record.

December is really hectic for an arts reviewer. Everybody is rolling out their big moneymakers for the year, and the Philadelphia Ballet is no exception. Yes, it is Nutcracker time again!
I've been looking at the Nutcracker for years now, examining the music, and the history, and the corps of snowflakes and flowers.
This year, I talked to the directors of the choirs whose voices provide the ethereal melody at the end of Act 1. And like everyone I've every talked to about their part in the ballet, they think it is magical!

This week for Music Monday, I decided to go with a different approach to a musical scene.
Today, the Moduland Ballet Company decided to do perform a scene from the classic ballet, the Nutcracker.
The Nutcracker himself is played by the incomparable Filbert who is very angry as he faces off against the Rat King, played by Broccolo.
Clara is being played by Muffy, who is just a queen in this scene.

First year I have been forced to break my yearly tradition of going to watch #TheNutcracker despite having a ticket.
If only my clients and #NDIS could actually pay me on time. So much for preplanned self care.
It’s so upsetting. I rarely get out much these days. With no public transport available and fuel needed to see clients there is no option for me.
I can’t even gift the ticket as it is on tonight. I kept waiting, hoping I would get paid.

Decades ago, as a child in the 80’s, I saw the Houston #Ballet perform #TheNutcracker.
When the Nutcracker came to life, they had an amazing practical effect where the toy nutcracker grew in size right before your eyes into a full sized person and then started dancing. Clara sets the Nutcracker down in standing position and it just grows. It’s not on a bed.
I have never seen another ballet company do this effect and I to this day have no idea how they pulled it off.
