For years my wife told be she had seen #TheBalladOfBusterScruggs when it hadn't been released or streamed before. I was convinced she was confused or mistaken or something or other.

So, now I'm watching #TheNun2 and I swear I have seen this. I haven't gone to a theater since #Covid. #AFAIK this is the first time it's been available streaming and it's definitely the first time I thought to give it a shot...

#TheNun2: It's got some sticking points as far as plot and iconography, and the shine on this whole Universe is definitely wearing off for me overall, but as another demonic possession horror flick, it's alright.

#Spooktober: #TheNunII

Another average #Conjuring film, but one that has some really nice touches that make it superior to the first one for me. The newspaper stand scene was just beautifully staged. Also, on a positive note, we have a quasi all-female cast showing the boys how the game is played. And I have a soft spot for the Farmiga family, anyway. And always interested in what's up at the Warrens'. Average, but pretty to look at

As a standalone, #TheNun2 is too much of the same. The same jump scares, the same sense of foreboding dread, and the same overall sense that this isn't all that exciting. This is a sequel that didn't learn much from the shortcomings of its predecessor. Fans of the greater Conjuring Universe will enjoy filling in all of the blanks and embracing the history but it won't do much to entice the uninitiated.
