On this day in 1978, Blondie released ‘Hanging on the Telephone’ as the second single from ‘Parallel Lines’. It was written by Jack Lee of The Nerves.

The other members of the Nerves became founders of some other notable power pop bands, The Plimsouls and The Beat.
