Die legitime Nachfolge von “The Meaning of Life” ist “Everything everywhere all at once”
Die Jüngeren kennen “The Meaning of Life” nicht. Das war der filmische Gipfel des kreativen Schaffens der britischen Künstlergruppe “Monty Python”. War ‘ne schöne Zeit. Nun habe ich “Everything everywhere all at once”, nur knapp einen Monat verfügbar, gesehen. Die zahlreichen bei Wikipedia gelisteten Preise, darunter 7 “Oscars”, haben sich die Verrückten, die daran gearbeitet haben, redlich verdient.
Aber was mag die nicht weniger irre ARD-Programmdirektion geritten haben? Ebenso irre eine “FSK” erst ab 16: “In der Freigabebegründung heißt es, der rasant inszenierte Film enthalte zahlreiche Kampfszenen mit teils drastischen Gewaltdarstellungen. Jugendliche ab 16 Jahren seien allerdings in der Lage, den Film als vollkommen realitätsferne Science-Fiction-Geschichte zu erkennen und die gewaltsamen Szenen entsprechend einzuordnen.” Und wer jünger als 16 ist, ist bematscht im Hirn? Was sagt das über Bildungswesen und Elternhäuser? Sollen Eltern, die ihren Kindern das nicht begreiflich machen können, diesen Film denn sehen dürfen?
Die ARD jedenfalls hat das Werk mit spitzen Fingern angefasst, und in ihrem Nachtprogramm verklappt. Dort hatte der Film noch weniger Zuschauer*innen, als er zuvor in deutschen Kinos hatte. Immerhin bin ich dazugekommen. Ich kannte ihn noch nicht.
Ja, es ist Fantasy, und ja, es ist lustig, ich habe oft gelacht. Doch am Ende geht es ihm, der kein Klischee der chinesischen und US-amerikanischen Kultur undiskutiert lässt, um den Sinn des Lebens, “The Meaning of Life”. Wie eine Peking-Oper im Schnelldurchlauf.
Und ob Sie nach seinem Genuss sofort gut einschlafen können, ist, jedenfalls wenn Sie sich auf ihn eingelassen haben, nicht wirklich sicher.
