The Man in the High Castle s02e06 joins a long list of movies and series that try to visually represent the experience of taking entheogens ("tripping"). They results are often beautiful pieces of art, but they never capture the essence of such an inner journey, and I think I just figured out why;
It's not really a visual experience. At least not for me.

CW: Possible Man in the High Castle spoilers
Just finished The Man in the High Castle s02e04. Near the tail end of the episode, John Smith tells his wife Helen that their son is sick, and there's no cure. Chelah Horsdal's character has no lines in response. She performs Helen's reaction entirely with her face, and then in the way she gets up out of her chair. Its one of the most sublimely subtle pieces of acting I've ever seen.

I recall the impact of The Man in the High Castle by Philip K. Dick as teenager but feel exhausted to even think of watching any series that consists of several seasons. This is not the first time I wish the creators (not by someone who was not involved with the original production) could just edit the opposite of director's cut and squeeze the whole series into six to eight episodes. I know I'm late to this particular party but now #TheManInTheHighCastle is on #Netflix I've been catching up. Just reached the end of Season 2 and I'm really enjoying it so far.
My favourite bits aren't the acting, the set design, the costumes - all of which are excellent. It's the scenes which show the banality of fascist evil, of people swallowing obvious bullshit because it makes their lives easier to believe it.

Die Serie "The Man in the High Castle" habe ich nochmal angesehen.
Die ersten 2 Staffeln sind langsam. Die 3. Staffel ist schneller. Und in der 4. Staffel wird versucht, alles schnell zu beenden. Das gipfelt leider in einem unbefriedigenden Finale, das Stuss ist.
Dennoch kann man sich die Serie nochmal ansehen. Ist halt ein doofes Finale.

He then goes on to make standard #Malthusian claims about #overpopulation, calls for mass murder of the elderly, praises #GlobalWarming and #Fascism as drivers of his nebulous misunderstanding of "#Evolution", praises #StarshipTroopers and #TheManInTheHighCastle as arguments in favor of fascism, and then gushes over Epstein's embrace of #PoliticallyIncorrect (ie, #Racism, #Sexism, #Fascism) views.
