#TheLittleFoxes (1941)
The ruthless, moneyed Hubbard clan lives in, and poisons, their part of the Deep South at the turn of the twentieth century.

#73SSIFF. #RetrospectivaLillianHellman.

Apparently the studio marketed a double feature of “The Little Foxes” and “Citizen Kane” in what must have been an asshole-filled afternoon for the audience

The character David Hewitt played by Richard Carlson doesn’t actually exist in Lillian Hellman’s play and was created specifically to be a love interest for Teresa Wright’s character. Nonetheless, a sequel titled “Alexandra” staring Carlson and Wright was planned and then later scrapped.

Seeing Dan Duryea be the one getting slapped feels weird

“The Little Foxes” is based on a 1939 play by Lillian Hellman, a writer who was later blacklisted for being a communist and for her refusal to cooperate with the HUAC assholes. She considered this play to be one of her best works. You can read it for free here (https://archive.org/details/littlefoxesplayi0000hell)

I cannot state enough how much of a wicked bitch Bette Davis is in this role

RE: “Household Help” “The Little Foxes” is set in 1900 Alabama so… yeah🤬
The first ever Black-American NFL player Jesse Washington plays an uncredited role as a servant.

Bette Davis was born 117 years ago today and I figured what better way to honor her than by sharing one of her most wicked and bitchy roles ever: Regina Giddens
