The claim of Israel and its apologists to represent Jews everywhere, the growth of the antisemitic far right, and the approach of the left to the Jewish question, are central issues today.
A knowledge of the role of Jews in the past aids understanding of these debates. Before the Second World War the majority of Jews were working class and part of a wider struggle alongside their non-Jewish comrades on the left.
The book celebrates Jewish radicalism from the Tsarist Empire to Poland and Germany, from London to New York.
The event will include talks by Janey Stone, a lifelong socialist and political activist and co-author of the book, and Rachael Shapiro, an anti-zionist Jewish socialist based in Berlin, followed by a discussion.
It will take place in English and German and books will be available for purchase.

Der Anspruch Israels und seiner Apologeten, die Jüd:innen überall zu vertreten, das Erstarken der antisemitischen extremen Rechten und der Umgang der Linken mit der Judenfrage sind heute zentrale Themen.
Das Wissen um die Rolle von Jüd:innen in der Vergangenheit hilft, diese Debatten zu verstehen. Vor dem Zweiten Weltkrieg gehörten die meisten Jüd:innen zur Arbeiterklasse und waren Teil eines umfassenderen Kampfes an der Seite ihrer nichtjüdischen Genoss:innen in der Linken.
Das Buch würdigt den jüdischen Radikalismus vom Zarenreich bis nach Polen und Deutschland, von London bis New York.
Die Veranstaltung umfasst Vorträge von Janey Stone, einer lebenslangen Sozialistin und politischen Aktivistin und Mitautorin des Buches, und Rachael Shapiro, einer antizionistischen jüdischen Sozialistin in Berlin, mit anschließender Diskussion.
Die Veranstaltung findet auf Englisch und Deutsch statt und die Bücher können erworben werden.
