1985 U.S. compilationReally nice collection of stellar tunes from not only The Left Banke, but singer Steve Martin Caro (just Steve Martin here), as well as Stories, the band that keyboardist Michael Brown would go on to form after The Left Banke fractured.
“Walk Away Renee” is undeniably one of the greatest pop songs ever. Just a delicious psychedelic, baroque sounding masterclass in songwriting.
However, there are two other really great songs on here that make this record worth owning.The OTHER Left Banke hit “Pretty Ballerina”, as well as the great Stories song “Brother Louie”.
With all that being said, when you’re talking about The Left Banke, it’s always gonna be about “Walk Away Renee”.
