#Iwatched the gothic horror film #CrimsonPeak (2015) by #GuillermoDelToro, inspired by his favourite classics from #TheInnocents to #TheExorcist. A high mark that this film misses by a long shot, because del Toro can leave nothing to the imagination. The script is chatty, the CGI ghosts parade in broad daylight, the aestheticized violence is gratuitous and even the dead victims have left clichéd recordings. A middling acting turn by #MiaWasikowska doesn't help. It's just a shame about the story.

Al centro di questo film norvegese c'è un piccolo gruppo di bambini.
Sulle note del "fantastico" un film poetico con alcune scene veramente disturbanti.

An unsettling film that--while a bit cheesy in effects and surreal sound--nonetheless well captures the tone of James's novel.

For those who use the tag #NowWatching

It would be great to see us all post how we're watching: #BluRay or a streaming service ( #Netflix #Hulu #DisneyPlus, etc). Some movies are easily available on #YouTube especially those without a streaming service.

I recently found #TheInnocents and #GanjaAndHess there as they have no associated streaming service.

It's a small thing, but it makes it easier to discover the movie you are watching.

Wir gucken gerade The Innocents (2021).
Bisher echt gut aber ich habe das gefühl der geht noch so richtig an die Nieren.

Another #NordicNoir with a caveat:
#TheInnocents (2021) has so much to recommend it, but…
The character of Anna should have been played by someone autistic. If you’re capable of directing young children in this sort of difficult work, there’s no reason you couldn’t work with an actor with autism (or someone with some other sort of limited speech/hearing).

Most recently, the children in The Innocents impressed me madly with their natural, haunting acting. I found it very impressive because it seemed so real.
