I have been travelling in the Highlands for a few days, going up past Loch Lomond, through Glencoe and along the Great Glen to Inverness, then back via Strathdearn glen and Perthshire.
Boy oh boy, what a country.

🐿️ Some positive news today:
Critical red squirrel conservation aided by public citizen science efforts.
Results from the nationwide survey, which took place between the 30 September and 6 October, show that during the week 1802 people reported over 2500 squirrel sightings, the second highest result to date and a 30% increase from 2023.

In the distance and dominating the skyline for miles around a monument with 30m statue in praise of evil done by a landlord who burnt his tenants out of their homes during the Highland Clearances (in some cases while the tenants were still inside). When some tenants built new homes by the coast he used control of the town council to charge them rent.
