🚆📷 Some impressions of this #Class720 built by #Alstom for #GreaterAnglia. The first #Aventra trains entered service in 2020. They are fully accessible and feature a 3+2 seat layout with tables and power sockets, in addition to free Wi-Fi.

So. Many. Trains.
... but by far the busiest area is the one with all the model railway stalls and displays.

I’m not going to breach the conditions of entry to the event (even though I wasn’t aware of them when I bought my tickets).
But plenty of other people seem to have ignored the personal-use-only clause and are posting photos and videos.
Still deciding whether to pop back for day 3 – it’s a bit of a sensory nightmare, but there are a couple of things I haven’t seen.
(There are also some official/authorised videos.)

🚂🇬🇧 Today was the first day of #TheGreatestGathering! To celebrate 2️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ years of railways in the UK, an exhibition featuring both historic and modern trains as well as scale models is taking place at Derby Litchurch Lane Works, drawing nearly 40,000 visitors!
-
I took most of my photos on my DSLR, hence not posting many of them so far. That and I’m too tired to even go through things. #TheGreatestGathering

The queue at #TheGreatestGathering is moving, so who knows, we might get in early!
Probably the last photo I can share. Once I’m through the ticket barrier, it’ll be personal-use only. Sorry! 😔
(Update: tickets checked. In a long snaking queue between barriers inside the site.)
-
Turns out train nerds are all enthusiastic about getting here early #TheGreatestGathering
-
Thought I’d get along early for #TheGreatestGathering
Knew a lot of other people would have the same idea, but over an hour before it opens the queue is huge! 😮
-
In case anyone was wondering why I was on a train (you probably weren’t, I know), I was on my way to Derby.
I’ve come here for #TheGreatestGathering, a celebration of 200 years of public passenger railways in the UK.
Alstom, who are hosting the event, permit photography for personal use only, so these are possibly the best photos I can share with you (taken through fences yesterday). 😊
