"In #theFediverse and #Bluesky there is so far no possibility of #monetization. And at least that won't happen in the Fediverse. That's why these content creators have no interest in leaving the commercial networks. And the mainstream will stay where there is the “good” content.
Likewise, many bands, labels and fanzines have no desire or the resources to serve one more social media channel and therefore remain where they are. In addition, there are also many more users in the commercial networks, so that the promotion reaches many more people there.
You don't have to change completely, but just trying something new shouldn't hurt! Will you change the world? Probably not. But do the corporations get less money through the advertising that you don't get displayed? Yes. It won't affect one person, but the mass does it.
And as described above, #Meta sees #Pixelfed as a danger for #Instagram and blocks every link on #Facebook to Pixelfed instances." -
