I am almost never sarcastic, except when it suits the situation. And sometimes when it doesn't. And when I feel like it. And also occasionally when it is wildly inappropriate.

Alrite, scratch that, I think it might be my default setting. Either that or there's a glitch in the firmware?

Really enjoying a #WildWest #TV show called #TheEnglish with #EmilyBlunt. Keep being struck by the beautiful #Cinematography 🎬 🎥 . Every scene you feel someone has put a great deal of care and love into the framing of the shots, almost every still frame could be a poster on its own. Great work 👏 .

I just finished #TheEnglish series. As a fan of westerns, I absolutely loved it. It is a marvel of beauty, darkness, melancholy. I fell in love with Emily Blunt and Chaske Spencer. 6 episodes not to be missed.

Just finished The English on Amazon Prime, and it’s a brutal, brilliant, and beautiful twist on the western. Spends most of the time in a slow burn, punctuated with sudden violence, a masterclass in tension

Chaske Spencer’s Eli Whipp is magnificent, Emily Blunt’s Lady Cordelia is both raw and surprisingly tough. If you don’t mind a little scenery chewing, Rafe Spall’s villainous David Melmont is frankly terrifying

The English (2022– )

The English was a surprise, a fresh and brutal version of the western, that seeks out inspiration from Sergio Leone rather than John Ford.

I know everyone has a "Monday" once in a while, but today's Monday just felt like a snowball that kept rolling down the hill & picking up speed. Then in a meeting this afternoon, I saw someone had posted the quote from my recent favorite, #TheEnglish:

"Steady is quick."

In every instance today, I can trace back my issues to rushing. It's time to take a deep breath & regroup for tomorrow.

#television #theenglish Great show. So moving.

The flood of #TV dramas is never ending, but hopefully we're on top of the best stuff.

Just wrapped #GangsOfLondon Series 2, which had its moments, but wasn't quite as good as the previous series.

Ambitious #cinematography in #TheEnglish. This from ep. 2... *chef's kiss*. Look at that shadow when the horse turns. As @tvaziri says: "shot design!" 😉

Did anyone else watch #TheEnglish and live it #Iplayer ? I binge watched the last 3 episodes yesterday and even had a wee sniffle 😭😁

@c_althaus Isn't it wonderful? Probably my favourite 2022 TV although #TheEnglish is a close competitor. New year's greetings from down here in Geneva.

Just finished #TheEnglish. Bit confusing at times, but overall, loved it. Definitely a Western I'll remember.

That's it.

I've completed #Yellowstone 1883. That was brilliant. That's two great western series I've watched this year the other being #TheEnglish.

1883 deals completely with people trying to travel West and the mixture of characters, drama and historical detail is brilliant. You feel it

Finished watching #TheÉnglish last night. What a story. Great to see a strong women portrayed so brilliantly by #EmilyBlunt as Cornelia,#ChaskeSpence as #Eli. Proper old style villains.
Watch it if you can #drama #miniseries

@dekkzz76 I also loved #StrangeNewWorlds and #TheEnglish! Thanks for the other recs. Just starting #Deadwind now!

Just finished watching The English on #Prime. #seriesrecommendation
What an amazing, touching, brutal and absolutely stunningly beautiful series.

I want more. Give me more Eli Whipp. #ChaskeSpencer did a really good job. I was enchanted.

#TheEnglish

I'm watching The English all over again. This time I'm paying special attention to all the anamorphic photography.

#film #movie #theenglish #english #photography

Blimey Charles, Rafe Spall is terrifying in #TheEnglish I should say. Great, brutal storytelling all round, I'd venture. Lots of ripples into the past and future of then and now. Lyrical stuff 👌

@KatMA THE ENGLISH was way better than I'd expected! Because yes, #Westerns are easy to mangle. I mean DEADWOOD set a helluva high bar and you better come correct with your boots-n-bullets epics nowadays. #TheEnglish managed to capture brutal, violent ugliness with gorgeous, lush cinematography. Quite a feat. Wish it was longer!

Tbh it took me a couple tries to get into #Andor but it's worth it if you're interested in clandestine-resistance-to-a-fascist-state focused Star Wars stuff

Best thing watched this week ‘The English,’ haunting me that one. Worst thing ‘Falling for Christmas’ with Lindsey Lohan. Really really bad. Every Christmas movie cliche and no jokes. To be fair #TheEnglish wasn’t packed with laughs either!

Finished up The English on Amazon last night. It's well worth a watch for Emily Blunt and Chaske Spencer, for the sweeping cinematography, and for the dream/nightmare unreality of it all. #theEnglish #television

My plans for today : an editing session that will be interrupted by washing out milking parlour and bringing in sticks. Meeting with accountant. Collect daughter from Maynooth uni ( coming home today as she has appointments tomorrow). Watch #theenglish

Watching #TheEnglish. Literally every shot is amazing. Cinematography Emmy. Now.

@GWillow ok I’m two episodes into #TheEnglish. Wow. It’s gorgeous. Every frame could be art in a museum. Amazing acting. Powerful stuff. Thanks for the recommendation.

Watched the final episode of #TheEnglish on Prime and now it's safe to say I'm a mental wreck.
