This is like The Emperor's New Clothes in that I'm pretending to be able to see the message to gain from being included in the group who are prepared to lie about what they are seeing.
The city-folk in the story were avoiding lese-majesty charges and probable corporal/capital punishment.
And I'm avoiding not making a point.
Am I indulging in pareidolia though?
What are the boundaries of "pareidolia" as you understand the term?
