  1. As a massive fan of #TheCritic, you'd think I'd be excited.

But the post-2000 webisodes they did were fucking awful, and half the cast that made the show so special are long gone.

Could it work? Sure? Will it? The odds are about as good as any other show at this point.

I'm open to it, but oh-so-very skeptical.

  2. There's errors here that I'd fix (the 'flesh' glove in the Bee one, a missing dog collar in 'Bark'), but this was some fun upscaling/remastering using Invoke and Flux Klein of some title card gags from #TheCritic. :)

  3. I’ve been rewatching “The Critic”, many years since it aired, and I understand now why it failed. Imagine the pitch: “It’s a bit like The Simpsons, except that it’s targeted to people who live in NYC and LA and think they’re smarter and more sophisticated than people in the rest of the US.”

I mean, yes, that’s me, absolutely, but you can’t build a network show on that audience.

  4. So this guy over on /r/TheCritic (AndyDiplodocus) has made these utterly fantastic #TheCritic webcomics that perfectly captures the style and voice of the series in comic form.

I'm kind of in a bit of a panic because I want this guy to get famous for this and get a 'deal' of some kind.

I think these are way, way better than the official godawful 'webisode' Flash episodes they cranked out in the early 2000s. (Then again that's an easy bar to clear.)

(Okay, look, I just hate those webisodes, okay? :D)

  5. "When Richard Nixon coined the “war on drugs” in 1971, he was speaking metaphorically, assimilating the fight against illegal narcotics to armed conflict. We live in an age where nuance is regarded as an affectation, so it was not entirely surprising that Donald Trump should have taken the expression at face value."

  6. I swear to any and all gods, the _microsecond_ I open a shrimp ring in this house, the cat suddenly appears and starts screaming. In all fairness, that's my reaction, too.
