It's a very pretty song with some fun interpolations, the ripper murders, social commentary about empire, and some nice words that you can interpret romantic-like if you look at them sideways. Has it all (and it's been ear-worming me all week).

5.) Finger Eleven - Swallowtail
Going way back to high school with this one. Nu metal doesn’t have much of a reputation for artistry, but some artists in the genre definitely had their moments. The chorus lines “We all know, and we can’t ask why you turned into an ugly butterfly” still feel resonant.

This is sort of the textbook example of ending with something special. Closing the concept album about the singer going through a near death experience with his goodbye to his longtime partner is gut wrenching.

This #ThursdayFiveList from @neurothing is #TheClosure – songs that end albums. Hoo boy, this was a toughie. I love many songs that appear at the end of an album, so I just picked the first five that came to mind. (Including my favorite Mr. Bungle song which, yes, you’re going to have to sit through again. But come on – ending an album with horrified screaming before its all sucked into a null void is a natural conclusion.)
