  3. We watched Obsession last night. I am feeling a bit mentally fragile at the moment for a reason or two but fucking hell did that film leave me a mess. It's very very good, but it's not a fun horror. Thankfully a good night's sleep shook off the vibes it left me with. Inde Navarrette is a ridiculous talent.

  5. CW: spoilers for Sorry, Baby but not really

Watched Sorry, Baby and liked it. I liked how the main character's communication style captured her mood. I could relate to that in a way because I'm also not the most eager communicator and deliberately speaking in an awkward way is what I sometimes do when I don't really want to talk. The jury duty scene was strong. The sandwich guy was cool, too. My partner was reminded of the people in NYC and it had too much of a Greta Gerwig vibe for her, both of which she didn't dig.

  7. Watched 'Feel My Voice' aka 'Non Abbiam Bisogno Di Parole' which was a surprisingly beautiful small Italian movie.

The story is about a teenage girl. She's the only hearing member of a deaf family, discovers she has a talent for singing & learns to believe in herself through her passion for singing. A lovely simple story film just to enjoy, with real deaf actors. Recommended watching.

  9. watched Evil Dead Burn today.

the dialogue at times felt like it snapped forward too fast, but the horror stayed exactly on point, where we knew it to be - three years after Rise, a thin layer of sublime visceral shock now again coats our entire body like glue. enjoyed.

  11. We watched The Drama tonight. Best looking film I've ever seen. It was perfect in every other aspect too until the final final scene which I thought was a misstep. Literally the last 30 seconds though, I was laughing out loud throughout the rest of the film. Me and S had a chat about the worst things we'd ever done afterwards.

  13. I'm watching Cronenberg's original Crimes of the Future from 1970. Not really paying attention to the plot but the architecture is beautiful. The narrator's voice is a little annoying, but I like that the film is completely overdubbed, largely silent with abstract sounds here and there.

  15. #DueSpicci / #My2Cents — the new series by #Zerocalcare — was amazing. Was going to limit myself to one episode a day but I couldn't resist, I had to know how it ends.
Out of the three series, this may be the wildest.

  19. Dylan Reibling’s documentary “The End of the Internet” is an amazing film so much so that I’m going to go see it again. I recommend everyone who uses the internet to watch it, i.e. all of youse!

@techfordemocracy are hosting a screening at Revue Cinema on May 29. Get on it if you can!

  21. @thomasorus I was aware but I must admit I neglected to make a post for it in #theCinema until now. (btw, isn't theDarkroom for photography?)
I am very glad that Science Saru is behind it. :neofox_uwu:

#Animation fans, go check it out! (Also Ross Bryant fans, and those two sets should cover everyone.)

  33. The Banshees of Inisherin(2022).

A black tragicomedy I really enjoyed, set in 1920's Ireland.

  35. #LongStoryShort is getting my "never skipped the intro" certification. :neofox_uwu:
So many nice little details, especially on the second watching, when you can properly get the feeeels for each of them. :neofox_cry:

  38. Read an article about Seawatch in the local street newspaper Augustin and watched this short Arte documentary (German) afterwards. It gives a good impression on how skewed the European values are and how they seem to end at its borders. #theCinema

  40. Watched Dust Bunny at the theater two nights ago and couldn't help myself but think that the whole movie reeks of AI slop. Everything feels weirdly too stylish, too aesthetically pleasing, too fake. Even the poster art seems like it's straight out of the bin. #theCinema

  41. Hyped for #Gladlands! :neofox_mug_owo:

  43. Watching L'Été de mes Onze Ans(1991) without sound, I hadn't thought about this movie since I was a kid. I love this movie.

  44. I'm intrigued by the new show Pluribus so far. It's making me fondly remember catching reruns of The Prisoner. There's a bunch of parallels between the two shows already, but it's only two episodes in. #theCinema

  45. Watched Nosferatu yesterday, can't get it out of my head. It was so good, every shot was a painting.
