At the beginning, The Man says "lessons are extra". But at the end he's like: "gets down to what it's all about... making the wrong move at the right time" which is a lesson. He has respect for Cinci.
If the Kid saw the cheat, surely the Man saw it too. And Man saw Kid stop it from happening, which was "the wrong move".
