  7. One of our current favourite #TV shows is 'The Change' from the BBC. We completed season one last night and will dive in to the current season soon.

I love its eccentric and slow pace and especially its odd characters. Certainly a feminist perspective but also #AntiCapitalist - juxtaposing Matriarchalism against Patrtiarchy but also showing that men's personal patriarchical views do not have to take sides with the 'Big Patriarchy' demanded by Capitalism, the State and Civilization.

OMGZ that's a lot of big words for a small comedy show! I am also trying to write this without any #Spoilers.

    Anyway, just watch it 👍

  8. Schaue gerade "The Change". Kurz, es geht um Verwerfungen innerhalb einer Familie in der Zeit des Umbruchs von der Demokratie zu einem sogenannten Kein-Parteien-System. Genau.

Er reiht sich ein mit z.B. Dont Look Up und Civil War.

Somehow, the #movie is called #TheChange here in Austria.

Anyhow, great movie that draws a picture of a society becoming more and more fascist. Right on time.

However, voters of right-wing parties and conservative parties who collaborate with right wing parties won't understand.

When I Was a Boy, Dar Williams

  20. It's been some time since I've last done a #ThursdayFiveList. Today's theme, presented by @neurothing, is all about #TheChange. I'll look to share songs with different styles of changes.

    1) トゲナシトゲアリ (Togenashi Togeari) - Void (Nina Iseri, Momoka Kawaragi)

    #girlsbandcry

This song is a starting point to an anime called "Girls Band Cry" where it inspires the protagonist take action in her life compared to going with the flow. In a way, it's a change against societal norms.

    2) Porter Robinson - Everything Goes On

A song for the Star Guardian 2022 League of Legends event. It puts into feelings of when a cherished person disappears from their life. In a way, it's a reflective change for those in a loss.

    #porterrobinson

    3) LEVEL NINE, seibin, Cosmograph (feat. Shabel Tonya) - Lucky Night

This is song Nikke's event, GOLDEN COIN RUSH, that's all about gambling at a casino. The jazzy upbeat tone gives a fun and tempting vibe of going big or going home.

    #NIKKE

    4) HOYO-MIX feat. Robin (VO: Chevy) - Hope Is the Thing With Feathers

This Honkai: Star Rail song is about commitment to dreams and confronting destiny. The in-universe singer is Robin, whose English VA that sung it is Chevy

    #HonkaiStarRail

    5) JELEE - 深海遊泳 (Shinkai Yūei)

From the anime, "Jellyfish Can't Swim at Night", this insert song follows a personal change of one of the main characters. The lyrics also sound as if it's a personal change in finding her own happiness. The in-universe singer is 山やまノの内うち花か音 (Kano Yamanouchi), who is voiced by 高橋 李依 (Rie Takahashi).

    #JellyfishCantSwimAtNight

  21. This week in @neurothing's #ThursdayFiveList, the prompt is #TheChange, or songs about change, mutation, transformation, literal or metaphoric.
In this 🧵, I'm not going to include low-hanging fruits "The Times They Are A-Changin'" or "Winds of Change", but rather

    5. Nine Inch Nails: Hurt

  22. As usual on a Thursday @neurothing has set a theme for the #ThursdayFiveList , this week #TheChange whether literal , figurative, transformations , mutations etc.

    Wildhearts: Nothing Ever Changes invidious.private.coffee/watch
    Dire Straits: Telegraph Road invidious.private.coffee/watch
Nine Inch Nails: The Becoming invidious.private.coffee/watch

  23. Because ReactToTheK put me in a music theory mood today, I'm going to be contrary and interpret #ThursdayFiveList #TheChange as musical changes rather than change as a subject.

Because KPop loves a crazy change-up! :ablobdj:

    1. Tempo, time signature and articulation changes .. so satisfying!

  24. Today I have mostly been doing a deep-dive into #ShirleyCollins. I think this is probably the most beautiful song ever recorded. This is played at the end of every episode of #BridgetChristie's #TheChange. By the way, my 201 Pocket Piano by #CritterAndGuitari arrives tomorrow. More will come of this.

  29. @plaguepoems This particular poem reminds me of Garth Brook’s “The Change”, written after the Oklahoma City bombings. The whole song is very meaningful to me but one line in particular frequently runs through my head, especially in today’s world:

    “And I hear them saying,
    “You'll never change things
And no matter what you do
    It's still the same thing’
But it's not the world that I am changing
I do this so, this world we know
    Never changes me”
    ❤️

  30. This is my favourite version of the song "Hares on the Mountain'"

There's a version of it used used in the excellent Channel 4 drama 'The Change' with Bridget Christie

  31. Aside from all the death/funeral related content I consume, I typically read about 100 novels a year. Some stand apart from the others and bear multiple rereadings and recommendations. These are three, united by a theme of righteous feminine rage. They even follow a path through womanhood:

Nightbitch - the childbearing years, standing up against societal expectations and raging against the patriarchy

Lessons In Chemistry - the working mom years, standing up against societal expectations and raging against the patriarchy

The Change - the post menopausal years, standing up against societal expectations and raging against the patriarchy

I’m so glad books like this exist. I’m grateful to authors who prove that we can break free from internalized misogyny and embrace our rage. It’s not unfeminine to be angry, and we can be powerful at age stage of life.

Special thanks to Kirsten Miller (for the book mail and the kind words), Rachel Yoder (for responding to my fangirling and expressing interest in my own work), and Bonnie Garmus (whom I have not yet reached out to but admire nonetheless). Write on!
