De acordo com informações do Jeff Sneider, e depois confirmado pelo The Hollywood Reporter, a roteirista Christina Hodson foi escolhida para escrever “The Brave and the Bold“, filme centrado em Batman e Robin, que marcará a introdução oficial do Cavaleiro das Trevas no novo Universo DC liderado por James Gunn e Peter Safran.
Segundo fontes ouvidas pela publicação, Hodson trabalha no roteiro desde pelo menos o outono do hemisfério norte, embora o projeto ainda esteja em estágio inicial. A expectativa interna é de que leve algum tempo até que um rascunho considerado definitivo seja entregue, já que o estúdio optou por uma abordagem cautelosa no desenvolvimento do filme.

O projeto será baseado na fase de Grant Morrison nos quadrinhos do Batman (2006 – 2011), no que Gunn chamou de “excepcionalmente influente” para o DCU, onde apresentará Damian Wayne como Robin, o filho biológico de Bruce Wayne, criado pela Liga dos Assassinos, cuja existência o Batman desconhecia.
Wayne nunca soube da existência de um filho durante os primeiros oito a 10 anos de vida de Damian e agora ele terá que lidar com esse fato, além de tentar moldar o garoto que foi treinado para ser o maior assassino do mundo, para ser um verdadeiro herói.
“The Brave and the Bold” será o primeiro filme do Batman ao apresentar a apresentar a Bat-Família nos cinemas com alguns heróis conhecidos do Bat-Verso como Asa Noturna, Batgirl, entre outros.
O projeto foi anunciado ainda em 2023, quando Andy Muschietti, diretor de ‘The Flash‘, foi confirmado para comandar o longa. O cineasta, no entanto, segue envolvido apenas de forma condicional. De acordo com o The Hollywood Reporter, sua permanência como diretor depende de fatores como cronograma e disponibilidade, especialmente após o sucesso de ‘IT: Bem-Vindos à Derry‘, série da HBO que já tem uma segunda temporada em produção.
O desenvolvimento do filme também ocorre em meio a uma estratégia cuidadosa da DC em relação ao personagem. Paralelamente, ‘The Batman – Parte II‘, dirigido por Matt Reeves e estrelado por Robert Pattinson, avança como prioridade do estúdio, com estreia marcada para 2027.
A DC pretende evitar sobreposição criativa e garantir que Os Bravos e os Destemidos tenha identidade visual e tonal claramente distinta do universo de Reeves.
Christina Hodson já é um nome conhecido dentro da DC. Ela assinou os roteiros de Aves de Rapina e The Flash, além de ter escrito projetos não lançados como Batgirl e um filme de Batman do Futuro, este último bastante elogiado internamente. Fora do universo dos super-heróis, seus créditos incluem ‘Bumblebee‘ (2018), além de novos projetos em desenvolvimento em Hollywood.
Apesar de reações divididas de parte do público por conta do histórico recente da roteirista nos cinemas, o estúdio ressalta que Hodson conquistou respeito entre executivos e criativos por sua construção de personagens e estrutura narrativa.
