O víkendu jsem si chtěl doplnit vzdělání a tak jsme si s ženou pustili dvě loňské duchařiny.
Sestra 2 (NUN 2) a Kostlivec (The Boogeyman).
Oba filmy jsou (podle mého názoru) jen tuctové duchařiny, kterých je posledních pár let spousta a ani ničím nevynikají, naopak si z lepších titulů jen berou.
Kostlivec na tom je o něco lépe a zpočátku to vypadalo velmi nadějně, ale ve výsledku docela slabota.

I'm literally just here for Sophie Thatcher and Vivien Lyra Blair, but I'm sure I'm gonna have thoughts anyway.
"What are you really scared of?" "Being alone." Welp.
Ok but these high school girls are bitches (the accuracy!), and this Lester dude…a bit too obvious on the telegraphing that he's fucked up. Then again, maybe that last Halloween sequel with the whiny emo boy getting all the screen time ruined me.

Enjoyable creature horror that plays it a little too safe and unfortunately only has the basic idea in common with King's original short story. But a nice take on: "When parents aren't paying attention, kids have to defeat their monsters themselves."
Thatcher is a star in the making anyway and gets great support from cute Vivian Lyra Blair. The monster is creepy, the showdown is fun and the few gaps in logic are easy to overlook -

Tomorrow (and I don't know how I'm gonna sleep tonight!) I begin my very first step along the Beam and begin the journey to The Dark Tower.

Their biggest complaint was that this did not follow the same plot as the very very short story that King wrote.
Personally, I thought they gave the source material a wonderful homage at the beginning and then took it into a different direction with a traditional, modern monster film that was professionally executed.
Well it's not going to rank in the top 10 films I've ever seen, I can't imagine taking the source material and stretching it to 90 min.

They covered Easter eggs in this film, and while I noticed the house numbered 19, I completely miss the one numbered 217!

I remember when Stranger Things came out and the number of people who pointed out how much of a Stephen King vibe it had. How story elements seem lifted from such works as Firestarter and Carrie.
Now here, a big complaint The Losers' Club raised was how much this Stephen King film reminds them of Stranger Things. Oh how the world of irony has turned.

A comment about a curious absence of any "research" performed about the boogeyman monster to get its backstory. The teenage girl certainly is comfortable looking up how to communicate with the dead on YouTube. Why not do some boogeyman googling?

The Losers' Club seemed to be the only podcast to have gotten excited about The Boogeyman film as they released a THIRD episode about it no too long ago. It's a lengthy one, so I plan only to listen to the first half of it today.Here they actually review the film, something I suppose they couldn't do with honesty in the last episode while interviewing the director. I wonder if they'll now completely trash it. 😂

"The Boogeyman" indeed was a solid movie. If you watch it, do so in a dimly lit room as many of the scenes are understandable dark. Also, watch with headphones on or at least with a quality sound system. This is essential to the effectiveness of this movie.

For a movie that's primarily built around one of the biggest horror tropes: A monster that only children are seeing and the adults don't believe them...
"The Boogeyman" feels very fresh and original!

#TheBoogeyman: Host director #RobSavage breaks out into the studio system and maintains a lot of that vibrant creativity. Wish I could say the same for the script, though.
