  2. I get the feeling that the people who made “Peter Pan” (1924) sat down and watched “The Blue Bird” (1918) A LOT

  3. The score for “The Blue Bird” (1918) is based on the music used in the American version of the 1908 play but it was re-recorded for the home media release

  4. Maeterlinck’s “The Blue Bird” was actually the most popular children’s fantasy story in film, theater and radio before adaptations of “Peter Pan” and “The Wizard of Oz” started being made. After that and the fairy tale adaptations from Disney, it fell into obscurity

  5. Human Animal acts (as in humans dressing like/acting like animals) were big on vaudeville and live theater and that carried over to the #SilentFilm era as well. Think of them as the Motion Capture of the day only without those weird pajama-things

  6. Idk how much the flame/fire effects where intentional or how much are b/c of damage to this film. Combined they really make for a great image nonetheless

  7. “The Blue Bird” (1918) is based on the 1908 Belgian fairy tale play “L'Oiseau Bleu” written by Belgian playwright and poet Maurice Maeterlinck. You can read the play (in English) in its entirety here (archive.org/details/bluebird00)

Thank you for setting up #KpopMonday with this rich but also (reaches for hankie) saddening theme of #WantUBack

I've posted songs by April before, but never - I think - "The Blue Bird".

It's an e.one production. So many of the April e.one songs appeal to me as wonderful examples of Christian Horse Girl Music, a Kpop genre I adore, even though I am neither Christian, nor equestrian, nor a woman. In the words of Say My Name's current comeback, "Thank you Jesus, I'm so lucky!"

April's listeners might have been blessed with some great music, but the members themselves were cursed to fall out in the most horrible way, with accusations of missed rehearsals, lying, theft, and bullying. Disbandment followed. How elusive the blue bird of happiness proves to be!

  9. Before the winter many birds migrate to warmer and better locations where it is easier to survival, some birds take the chance by staying to get more worms, sadly the ground freeze so the worms can't get up to become food for the early bird.
