Michael Burry ponownie uderza w Teslę. „Śmiesznie przewartościowana”
Legendarny inwestor, znany z przewidzenia kryzysu finansowego w 2008 roku i sportretowany w filmie „The Big Short”, znów wziął na celownik imperium Elona Muska.
W swoim najnowszym wpisie Michael Burry ocenił, że obecna wycena giełdowa Tesli jest oderwana od rzeczywistości, a akcjonariusze muszą liczyć się z rozwodnieniem swoich udziałów.
Burry, który niedawno przeniósł swoją aktywność publicystyczną na platformę Substack po wyrejestrowaniu funduszu hedgingowego, nie przebiera w słowach. Jego zdaniem kapitalizacja rynkowa producenta aut elektrycznych jest „śmiesznie przewartościowana” i stan ten utrzymuje się od dłuższego czasu. Inwestor zwraca również uwagę na gigantyczny, warty bilion dolarów pakiet wynagrodzeń dla Elona Muska, który jego zdaniem będzie miał negatywny wpływ na wartość akcji posiadanych przez drobnych inwestorów.

Najmocniejszym punktem wpisu jest analiza zachowań fanów marki, których Burry nazywa wprost „kultem”. Inwestor zauważa schematyczność narracji wokół spółki: entuzjazm inwestorów skupiał się na samochodach elektrycznych, dopóki nie pojawiła się konkurencja. Burry sugeruje, że każda z tych baniek pęka w momencie, gdy na rynku pojawiają się realni konkurenci, tacy jak np. chiński BYD (elektromobilność), Waymo (jazda autonomiczna) czy Unitree (robotyka).
Szerszy atak na branżę technologiczną
Tesla nie jest jedynym podmiotem na celowniku słynnego spekulanta. Burry ujawnił również, że obstawia spadki (gra na krótko) przeciwko innym gigantom technologicznym, takim jak Nvidia czy Palantir. Inwestor konsekwentnie buduje narrację, w której obecny boom na sztuczną inteligencję jest w rzeczywistości bańką spekulacyjną. Warto przypomnieć, że Burry już w 2021 roku posiadał pozycję krótką na akcjach Tesli o wartości 530 milionów dolarów, choć zamknął ją kilka miesięcy później.
Rynkowe realia
Mimo pesymistycznych prognoz autora „The Big Short”, Tesla w 2025 roku radzi sobie na parkiecie całkiem dobrze – od początku roku akcje spółki zyskały 11 procent. Wskaźnik ceny do zysku (P/E) wynosi jednak ponad 250, co jest wartością wielokrotnie wyższą niż w przypadku tradycyjnych koncernów motoryzacyjnych. Choć Tesla nadal dominuje na rynku aut elektrycznych w USA, jej udział spadł do około 41 proc. (dane z sierpnia), co potwierdza tezę o rosnącej presji ze strony konkurencji.
