Совсем недавно я вспоминал про TheBat! — легендарный почтовый клиент, который прошел долгий путь и продолжает радовать своих пользователей. Но время не стоит на месте, и появилось немало интересных программ и сервисов, о которых знают не все. В этой статье я посмотрю на каждый из упомянутых в комментариях почтовиков и попробую понять, можно ли их сравнить с «земышью». Ну и, как меня ни упрашивал редактор блога, про Outlook там ничего не будет — о нем и так все знают. А вы пока устройте себе небольшое гастрономическое путешествие в UK: налейте чаю и намажьте тосты тончайшим слоем сливочного масла и мармайта. Приятного аппетита чтения.

Почтовик TheBat! Легенда, прошедшая сквозь время
Электронная почта — один из самых старых видов связи, дошедших до наших дней. Она пережила интернет по модему, проблему 2000 года, стремительный взлет и падение ICQ, а также бурное развитие социальных сетей. Причина такой стойкости в простой, но гениальной идее: соединить открытые стандарты и единую адресацию, вкупе с асинхронностью и независимостью от конкретной платформы. Спустя четверть века мы продолжаем пользоваться этим видом связи, но изменения последних лет говорят о том, что совсем скоро электронной почты в привычном для нас понимании уже не будет. Современное поколение воспринимает email только как одну из тысяч веб-страниц, на которых отображаются письма. Мало кого заботит вопрос, как это работает и как по-настоящему соединиться с почтовым сервером. Лишь немногие продолжают пользоваться отдельными клиентами электронной почты, лучшим из которых, на мой взгляд, является TheBat! от Ritlabs.

In the late 90's I was looking through all sorts of #email clients for #Windows. #OutlookExpress was probably the most popular but it didn't do "enough" for me. #Outlook was too bloated and was also commercial. I used something called #Eudora for a while and then found a niche client called "#TheBat" from a company based in Moldova.
It was AMAZING.

da #thebat ja nicht auf #Linux und #macos läuft musste ich irgendwann das Mailprogramm wechseln.
Alles was ich mit Mails mache ist entweder löschen 95% oder mit der Taste a ins Archiv legen, das lösche ich am Ende des Jahres
