I just finished the 3rd season of The Ark and it was quite a ride. This show from Dean Devlin (ID4, Stargate) is a throwback sci-fi show that isn't super complicated and all fun.
This is a modest show with a good cast. The writing and acting can feel like a high school play, but that's part of the charm. The visual effects in the show are pretty good.
I like the characters and the focus on adventure. And there's a wholesomeness and positivity that makes the show endearing.

Been watching #TheArk while waiting for the series I'm _actually_ following to release more episodes. (I'm especially pointing at you, #SlowHorses.)
Started from s01. Maddeningly schizophrenic experience! Writing is mediocre at best, often just bad. All the cliches & tropes you can think of are there.
_But_ at the same time all the #scifi elements are surprisingly well thought out. The Big Story™ is interesting. And it doesn’t exactly drag its feet in storytelling department. Keeps you hooked.

@Phangurl yes, ***The Ark*** is produced in Serbia.
That’s why you see Christie Burke (who plays Captain Garnet) regularly taking on, as she puts it, “7 ft Serbian guys” in the frequent fight scenes in the show.

@dahie The Ark seasons one and two are very episodic.
It’s an interesting choice for a show that’s inherently locked into the forward narrative of the core Ark 1 officers and crew. I have to say it pulled me in and carried me along much better than Stargate’s first television season.
Season three shifts to a more serialized and less episodic format on a broader canvas.

I finished Season 1 of "The Ark", and I must admit it does get better. The last few episodes of Season 1 are great, and make up for the absolute nonsense that is the first half of the season. I think I came in to the series expecting something akin to "The Expanse", because the writers had obviously thought about long-term space travel (cryo tubes, ark ships in general) and so I assumed they'd be all-in on getting the science right. The second half of the season, and the first few episodes of season 2 that I've watched, are more like Voyager than The Expanse - a plucky crew of misfits having to work together. Voyager wasn't my favourite Star Trek initially, but over the years it has grown on me - much like The Ark has. #TheArk

While romantic narratives are defined by treats to the relationship and separations, this show is going from a cdrama level of relentless threats to relationships.
