I remember lusting after this edition of The Abyss when I was a teenager. Now, for some reason, I find myself with 2 copies, both in perfect condition.
The inserts are so crisp, it looks like these were barely touched.

I really enjoyed the tense, claustrophobic underwater thriller side of The Abyss โ all the stuff about pressure, personalities clashing, and things slowly going wrong. Iโve never loved the last 20 minutes though. Once it fully leans into the alien side of things, I could have done without all of that.
Those paying attention will notice that I went to see this the same day as Wilt. Quite a contrast.

Thatโs fascinating. Disney+ version of The Abyss has the fluorocarbon breathing rat but is the theatrical version whereas ITVx is the cut version of the Special Edition (but has ads) with the rat off camera. The definition is definitely higher on ITVx as well, something going on there. Anyway I watched the Disney+ version and it was fine. In the UK we havenโt been able to watch it for ages due to the rat scene, but now we can, either with rat or without. But if you want the rat it costs you 20 minutes ;-)
